Day 3 (Sunday) so far has been a great day. Contractions are now irregular and only show up once or twice an hour and Ann-Marie doesn't even feel them. In the morning the doctor gave the instruction to reduce in half the amount of magnesium sulfate (goes into Ann-Marie via IV). The result was Ann-Marie became more and more alert throughout the day. Around 8 p.m. the nurses will remove the magnesium sulfate - YEAH!
After that the nurses will give Ann-Marie nifedipine every four hours (an oral medication that helps the uterus relax). If the contractions stay under control with the nifedipine, she will continue to take it until her body is ready to deliver.
We'll watch Ann-Marie through the night to see if the contractions start up again. Hopefully not, and the doctors and nurses will just continue to monitor for any changes. As for long term we don't know if Ann-Marie will come home or stay in the hospital. The doctors will make that decision based on how everything goes from here.
