Test Results are Back: Identical Triplets Confirmed!

What we've suspected since the beginning of the pregnancy was confirmed today with the test lab results, identical triplets. Our perinatologist, Dr. Gainer, came by today and showed us. The technical term for identical triplets is monochorionic triamniotic (meaning one chorion - which is the outer layer of the placenta - and three amniotic sacs - which holds each baby and is attached to the chorion). Ruthie (top), Annie (bottom)

This is the order the triplets were in the womb. Annie at the bottom, Ruthie in the middle, and Gracie on top.

  2. Hmmm... I like the term "triplets." The other is very long; I don't think I can remember it!

Boy, Annie sure does look self-aware in that photo with her eyes open doesn't she?
